Workshop 1: Davis Life Concepts for Autism
Introduction to the Core Principles and Concepts of the Davis Autism Approach (5 days)
Cost – see www.davisautism.com/events.html

This five-day workshop is an introduction to the Davis Autism Approach. You will discover the methodology behind this program and how it fills in the ‘missing pieces’ of Individuation, Identity Development and Social Integration for autistic individuals. You will learn how to use for yourself the Davis “self regulatory tools”, how to guide others in their use, and be taken on a journey of the practical exploration of the concepts outlined in the book Autism and the Seeds of Change.

The workshop follows the format of: theoretical components, question and answer sessions and demonstrations, followed by guided hands on practice and feedback in readiness for the first Field assignment.

Davis Autism Approach Field Assignment One
Practice concepts and tools for self (40-60 hours)
Cost $1100

This assignment is in two parts, firstly in keeping with our belief that “all real knowledge is experiential”, you will create all of the Concepts covered in the Davis Life Concepts for Autism workshop and explore them in your daily life; photos of these along with your written reflections will be submitted for feedback.

Secondly, you will practice the Davis “self-regulatory tools” for yourself as well as guide two or more volunteers through their establishment along with Introduction to Concept Mastery until comfortable guiding these procedures with little or no reference to manuals.  Video footage to be submitted.

You will have up to 4 hours email, phone or video consultation time with an experienced Davis Autism Approach Supervisor throughout this assignment plus written feedback on your reports and reflections.

Field Assignment Two
Deliver concepts and tools with two practice clients (80-120 hours)
Cost $1100

This assignment is designed to allow for facilitation practice and in-depth reflection on the Concepts and Self-Regulatory Tools.

Complete two programs with two practice clients - one must be an adult. Complete the assignment reports and reflect on the process.

You will have up to 4 hours email, phone or video contact with an experienced Davis Autism Approach supervisor throughout this time plus written feedback on your reports and reflections.

Application for enrolment in licensing training
Opportunity to share motivations, business plan and personal history, to read and understand the License Agreement and be in agreement with the Davis Autism Approach Standards of Practice. Complete the entry-level portion of the Training Self–Evaluation E-booklet, which will be used as a learning guide throughout the Level Two training.

Workshop 3: Davis Autism Approach Advanced Methods
Advanced Methods and Practice (5 days)
Cost $2100

This workshop addresses the advanced theories underlying Identity Development and Social Integration. You will experience and practice the specially developed Davis procedures for establishing and maintaining rapport with your autistic clients.

There will be supervised facilitation practice to demonstrate competence and receive feedback on the full range of technical procedures required to facilitate a complete Davis Autism Approach Program.

You will be guided through the exercises for establishing new behaviors, which will be practiced in small groups, along with the Responsibility Exercises designed to assist older higher functioning autistic individuals who have experienced failed responsibility in areas of their lives. There will also be small group practice and feedback on Intake and Assessment procedures.

There will be tutorials, Q&A and group discussions regarding: adapting to the client, facilitated vs. coached program structure, scheduling and guidelines; various types of clients (adults, children, verbal, non-verbal), required program materials; program administration & forms and standards of practice. Information on trademark use; licensing agreement requirements and benefits; website requirements and license renewal criteria will be detailed along with an individualized meeting to discuss your readiness for licensing.
